Reaching The Unreached

(Dillon Broxson, Kerygma Staff, Age 25) I met a guy named Crash on the streets of Austin who identified himself as a Satanist. Having been away from God at times in my life, I experienced His mercy when I came back. I was able to reach Crash where he was at and minister to him how God wants to come into the trauma of our life.

We don’t have to feel we’re in control of protecting ourselves and our souls. God wants to truly be a Father to us and truly protect our soul and our body from danger. I left some seeds for thought with Crash about God and His Kingdom. That was one my favorite experiences while we were at the South By Southwest Music Festival in March. See the Urban DTS Video

Resentment And Anger Gone!

(Victoria, age 17) Before coming to the April Youth Aflame Weekend, I had resentment and anger in my heart.  I didn’t know how to deal with it.  I would just put myself in the corner and cry about it and then the next day it would be ok. And it was just a repeating cycle.

After coming here I let all that out and learned about forgiveness. I took those who hurt me and gave them to Jesus. I’m not carrying it anymore. I feel so relieved with all that weight off my heart. All I feel is joy. It’s wonderful.

Going home now I feel relieved. I want to proclaim His word and give my testimony and tell everybody what he did in my heart. He can and he will change you if you will give yourself to Him. See Youth Aflame Video

National Day of Prayer

In the cold, windy and dreary rain, a small force gathered each hour on the hour from 9AM until 9PM on the Smith County Courthouse Square. The rain couldn't keep the 13 churches and ministries away as we bowed our heads and asked for God's Mercy on our land. Kerygma coordinated this effort for Tyler, Texas.

There has long been a prayer breakfast on this day, but this was the first time in over 20 years it was an all day event. A special noon Community hour emphasized unity in an even greater way as Protestants, Catholics, Spanish, Charismatics, Fundamentalist and Evangelicals united to call on God.

Temperatures dipping into the low 40's and biting rain kept large numbers away. Still we felt that a statement of faith and witness had been given to a watching world. Kerygma is planning more ways to involve local Christians next year!

The Pope and YWAM

What does Pope Francis and YWAM have in common? A love for the lost! Pope Francis is old friends with YWAM’s national director of Argentina. The former Cardinal Borgoglio encouraged his faithful to be prayed for at the YWAM Prayer Center! It is a small world for those who love God and keep his commandments.

Francis is the “dark horse” to whom God has given much influence. This open door of encouragement may push us ahead in our goals of building Kerygma here in the U.S. Like us, Pope Francis desires all men to come to a personal conversion experience with Jesus and then put that experience to work! Important Meeting in Ireland

Unity in our world and nation is on the Heart of God. Its also an important part of our mission in Kerygma. We have been asked to return to Rostrevor, Ireland this year for a critical international executive meeting. Because of these changes in Rome, Kerygma needs to put together important teaching packages to offer to YWAM immediately. We want to help sensitize YWAM's mostly Protestant workers to how Catholics and Protestants can and must work together to build the Kingdom of God.

Will you help us be a part of that meeting with a special contribution at this time? You can give directly online here or call us for more specific details. We will need to leave in just a few short weeks. Please pray about being a part of this. No gift is too small.

9+1

On a personal note, for the first time in several years all 9 of us Harrises were together for Easter! Charlotte and her daughter, Lucy are now living with us, Sam came from California and Charlie from Oklahoma. The school year is wrapping up for Juanita, James, Susan and John. We are looking forward to a busy, busy summer. Susan has a missions trip to Panama. James will be working with our sister ministry, Arts With A Mission. The big girls will be in summer school and John will get to hang out and swim. Keep us in your prayers. We love to hear from you! And if you read this far, let us know how you like this e-newsletter format!
