When
we went to Chicago July 1 with 45 teenagers
on SST, we couldn’t wait to do the same with a team of Catholic teens.
The Mini SST’s are a taste for
students of what they can expect in the summer. We are working toward our first
full three week Catholic SST, hopefully this summer.
Our Mini, named Youth Aflame, was the second
year we’ve done a Catholic youth retreat YWAM style.
It
touched campers and staff in a deep way. As SST director Chad Franke asked on
our Sunday morning recap, “Did you come here just to check off the weekend on
your calendar and say you had fun?"
Or did you come for God to change your life and make you a
different person?”
Lori
and I were the overseers for the weekend – ensuring all Diocese and Church
guidelines were followed.
